These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of HireScreen (“we”, “us”, “our”), an AI-powered resume screening service available at hirescreen.app (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Service Description
HireScreen is an AI-assisted resume screening tool for small businesses. You provide job requirements and upload candidate resumes. The Service uses AI (Anthropic Claude) to evaluate each resume against your requirements and produce a scored, ranked shortlist with detailed reasoning.
The Service includes:
- Creating and managing screening jobs
- Uploading candidate resumes (PDF, DOCX, TXT)
- AI-powered scoring and ranking of resumes against job requirements
- Exporting scored results as XLSX or CSV
2. Account and Eligibility
- You must create an account to use the Service.
- You must provide a valid email address.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Payment Terms
- The Service charges $299 per job.
- Payment is required to access scoring results. You can create a job posting and upload resumes before paying, but results are locked until payment is completed.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a payment, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
- All prices are in US dollars (USD).
Refund Policy
- Payments are non-refundable by default once scoring results have been delivered.
- If you experience a technical issue that prevents the Service from delivering results (e.g., all resumes fail to score due to a system error), contact us to request a refund.
- Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of payment.
- To request a refund, contact us at support@hirescreen.app with your job ID and a description of the issue.
4. AI Disclaimer
The Service provides AI-assisted analysis, not automated decision-making.
- Scores, rankings, and reasoning are generated by an AI model (Anthropic Claude) and are provided as informational tools to support your hiring decisions.
- The AI output is not a substitute for human judgment. You are solely responsible for all hiring decisions.
- AI outputs may contain inaccuracies, miss relevant qualifications, or misjudge candidate fit. Always review results critically.
- The AI evaluates only the text content of uploaded resumes. It does not verify the accuracy of claims made in resumes.
- The AI is instructed to evaluate based solely on qualifications, skills, and experience — not on protected characteristics such as name, gender, ethnicity, age, or disability. However, AI systems can exhibit unintended biases. You are responsible for ensuring your hiring process complies with applicable employment and anti-discrimination laws.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Upload resumes without proper authorization or consent from the candidates, where required by applicable law.
- Use the Service to discriminate against candidates based on protected characteristics.
- Attempt to manipulate AI scoring through prompt injection or adversarial inputs.
- Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable laws or regulations.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
- Share your account credentials with others or allow unauthorized access to your account.
- Upload malicious files (malware, viruses) disguised as resumes.
6. Data Handling
- Resume files and extracted text are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Scoring results (which contain candidate names but no other resume content) are retained while the associated job exists.

- You are responsible for complying with any data protection laws that apply to the candidate data you upload (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
7. Intellectual Property
- You retain ownership of all content you upload (jobs, resumes).
- You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
- This license terminates when your content is deleted (automatically after 30 days for resumes, or upon account deletion for other content).
- The Service itself, including its design, code, AI prompts, and scoring methodology, is our intellectual property.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated scores, rankings, or analysis.
- We are not liable for hiring decisions you make based on the Service's output.
- Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your hiring decisions
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of applicable laws, including employment and data protection laws
10. Service Availability
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Service.
- We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications that temporarily affect availability.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate the Service, or your access to it, at any time with reasonable notice.
11. Modifications to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via email.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
